This little car has an astonishing amount of interior room, and various ways to configure the seats to carry all kinds of stuff. It’s a theoretical five-seater – which means four people will be somewhat comfortable in it – but has enough space that my 6’1″-tall husband had no complaints about head- or leg room. I currently have it set up as a three-seater – one back seat is folded to create a cargo well – but can change it easily. And there’s no reason that a car this small needs 10 cup holders, but it has them anyway. However, my favorite amenity is the compartment with the USB port; I can plug my iPod into it and listen through the car stereo.
As for the important stuff, it’s got a high safety rating, gets good gas mileage, and is fun to drive and easy to park. But I feel like I should put up a widget in the sidebar to count up how many days till it gets its first ding. Does anyone want to start a pool?
The main reason I actually know about this Delurking Day in advance is because I occasionally delurk at Rude Cactus, which got me on Chris‘ e-mail list – see, delurking has its rewards! And if you lurk around The 3 R’s, be sure to let me know you’re here on Thursday (or today’s fine too, if you don’t want to wait)!
There may be some inconsistencies in the posting schedule here for the next few weeks. I’m heading into the busiest time of the year at work; that usually means having less time to check in on blogs and Twitter during breaks or work on posts during lunch, and being too tired to do much catching up in the evening. There may be days here and there where I’m absent without notice – just assume that means I haven’t had time to write anything worth posting, and I’ll most likely be back in another day or two.
I don’t go in for New Year’s resolutions, but I do tend to re-dedicate my efforts to healthier habits after the holidays. I actually asked for Wii Fit Plus for Christmas, and I’m enjoying the new features it has. I did not enjoy the results it gave me on my Body Test last week, but that was the first one after Christmas vacation (and the first I’d taken in over a month), so it wasn’t exactly a surprise. This week’s test was better, but I still have some ground to make up. Being able to add more variety to my workout routines seems to be helping. Cutting back on dessert consumption and not doing any more baking since we finished off the holiday treats is probably helping too.
Did you make any New Year’s resolutions? How are you doing with them?
What tangents is your mind wandering down these days?
Your new car is so cute. As I looked at the picture, I thought, "I didn't know Fit's were that big," and then I saw your caption and had a good laugh.
Quite bragging about the weather. We're freezing over here in the South!
I went to lunch yesterday without a sweater ;D
My tangent is super short today and I'm too tired to add anything to it.
I LOVE the car — and I would find my favorite feature to be the USB plug-in as well.
We have the Wii fit – but I have heard all kinds of great recommendations for the Plus edition. I think I need to check it out to help me maintain my New Year's Resolution of doing some form of exercise 6 days a week – for life!
Congrats on your new addition – very fun!
You and your new car are TOO CUTE! Congrats!
Kathy (Bermudaonion) – It's a good thing I actually prefer small cars, but my size is one thing to keep in mind if you ever ask me how much room a car has :-).
If I hadn't posted a picture today, I probably wouldn't have mentioned the weather – I'm really not trying to rub it in!
Gine (Book Dragon) – It's cooled off a bit today.
Thanks for posting your Tangent, but sorry it was such a piece of bad luck!
Molly – The USB plug-in is great. I can control the iPod right from the stereo panel. The only thing I can't do from there is change the main menu, so if I want to switch from Music to Podcasts and catch up on "That's How I Blog!", I'll need to do that directly on the iPod. (Fortunately, that's also easy to reach from the driver's seat.)
I definitely recommend the Wii Fit Plus. If you already have Wii Fit and don't need the balance board, it's only $20, and the additions are well worth it!
Diane and Heather J – Thanks :-). So far, so good!
Congratulations on your latest addition!! The key to not getting dings? Parking in spots that are far away and offer protection on at least one side (end of aisles, next to curbs, etc.) Making sure that there is at least one side which other cars cannot damage lessens your chances of getting a mark quite considerably. Good luck!
Congrats on the new car! We've started talking about a new one, but probably won't be ready to buy until 2011 or 2012.
Just got a Wii here, but so far just the games, no fitness 🙂
My first thought when I saw the photo of you and the car was that you could have been one of my roommates in college–all of them were short enough that we could share a mirror at the same time–her on the bottom, me a head above!
You picked a GREAT color in your new car. Very soothing and pretty. I can't imagine all those cup holders. My mini van only has 6 and they are pretty much ineffective (at least with the way I drive).
We got a Wii Fit, too, and I couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry when upon my body test I saw my Mii instantly widen. It was rather startling. Now, when that happened to my husband's Mii I found it very funny. I am not sure he appreciated it. At least I am in good company. 🙂
Cute car. I think the new rule is at least 3 cup holders per passenger. Sounds like you are in compliance. 🙂
I dont want to enter the first ding pool, it seems mean. Let's hope it's a long time from now!
Love your new car. And it'snice to see someone who is actually warm 🙂
Nice car, Florinda!
Congrats!
May your new car not have any dings for a very long time!
Michelle – I usually do try to park away from other cars, but I'll keep that "one side protection" in mind. But I'm a klutz – the first ding will probably be my own fault.
TexasRed – I never played any of the Wii games; Wii Fit is the first thing that ever got me to use the thing!
Jeanne – That's a lot like my husband and me :-).
Wayside Wanderer – Yeah, it's NOT fun to watch your Mii adjust to your BMI, even if you know it's going to happen :-).
I don't think I could fit enough people into the car (it theoretically seats 4, but not comfortably) to use all the cup holders.
Mike – I do use two cup holders myself every morning – one for my water bottle, one for my coffee :-).
To be honest, I'll actually feel slightly relieved once I get that first ding over with. It'll probably be my own fault when it happens, too.
Sracybuckeye – We're on the verge of a little cool down, but we'll probably still be warmer than almost anywhere else right now.
Sheri (Menagerie) – Thanks!
Jill (Softdrink) – That'd be nice, but with my track record, it'll probably be sooner rather than later :-).
