Weekend Review – travels across the blogiverse

Bulletin Board – for promotion of self and others

*** Got some blog-related catch-up to do, and having trouble making the time to do it? Next weekend (Friday 6/19-Sunday 6/21) may be your big chance, if you sign up to participate in Bloggiesta! Hosted by Natasha at Maw Books Blog, this blogging marathon

will focus on blog content, improving/cleaning up your blog or working on your social network profiles. I’m pretty open on what you can do during the bloggiesta but reading actually won’t count!  The point is to catch up instead of adding another book to the “to be reviewed” pile. Actual blog content is what I’m really aiming for with some technical/housekeeping bloggy stuff mixed in for good measure.

Natasha’s announcement post has the instructions for participants, and offers a helpful list of suggested activities. 48 hours are allotted, but the amount of time you put into it is up to you. As for me, I’ll probably be trying to add to my “stockpile” posts, since I’ve really been running low on those lately. Are you coming to Bloggiesta?

***This blog was recently honored with the Lemonade Stand Award by Gentle Reader of Shelf Life, whom I had the pleasure of meeting at the Festival of Books in April. This award is meant for bloggers who show “attitude and gratitude.” Here’s the gratitude: thank you so much! I’m a big fan of lemonade – regular, flavored, or blended with iced tea.

I’d like to share this with all of the folks in my blogrolls – please have a cool, refreshing lemonade on me! And if you haven’t met Gentle Reader yet, please go and visit Shelf Life!

Me: “Your total is $6.66.”
Customer 1: *looking horrified* “NO! I don’t want my total to be $6.66! Let me add something else…”
(She starts combing the gum shelves for a flavor she wants.)
Customer 2: *patting friend consolingly* “No, don’t worry about it. You only have to worry about it if $6.66 is the amount of change you get BACK.”
Customer 1: “OH, okay!”

Enjoy your weekend!

  1. Thanks for mentioning the blogiesta at Maw Books. I have seen it mentioned earlier, but you reminded me. I think I will sign up.

  2. No Bloggiesta for me. I could use some quality blog time, but it won't be next weekend. It's a great idea though!

Addicted to books? I'm afraid I checked all the symptoms but one listed on the DSM-IV list (and I'm probably in denial about that one). I've got it bad.

I did hit blogging adolescent a few months ago, and decided I liked being a kid better. 🙂

  3. Kathy (Bermudaonion) – Thanks :-)!

Louise – I'm sure Natasha will be happy to have you join in! I'm on the list, but I'm honestly not sure how much time I'll be able to give it.

Wendy (Literary Feline) – I'm going to try to participate, but we have the kids next weekend AND it's Father's Day, so I don't know how much I'll be able to do. I'm hoping to do some writing with what's left of this weekend, though :-).

I didn't take that quiz about book addiction, so I'm probably in complete denial. If the first step is admitting you have a problem, I won't do it!

Can we just skip over blogging adolescence and be grown-ups :-)?

  4. Bloggiesta? Hmmm…. It's a neat idea, isn't it? I'm tempted, but have you seen what I've got stockpiled for a rainy day??? It's other things I need to make the time for. Like… Demo Tapes 2…

  5. Susan – I used to have stockpiles for a rainy day, but I need to rebuild them! Things have slowed down a bit in other areas of my life, though, so I hope to get back up to speed blog-wise soon. I don't know how much of that will be crammed into next weekend, though…

And yes, we all want you to make time for Demo Tapes 2 :-).
