Ten on Tuesday on Wednesday: Simple Happy Things

In keeping with the topic “10 Simple Things that Make You Happy” and the fact that this is actually Ten on WEDNESDAY (due to a prior blog commitment yesterday), I’ll actually do a simple list for once, in no particular order.
  1. Holding hands with my husband (nice that this was #1 on his list too)
  2. A really good cup of coffee
  3. Wearing an outfit I love that’s comfortable AND looks good
  4. Cool nights and cloudy mornings (as long as the sun comes out later)
  5. The filet mignon at Dakota’s
  6. A good night’s sleep
  7. Wandering through the bookstore and discovering that a book I’ve been waiting to read is finally out in paperback
  8. Brownies that are just the right amount of “chewy”
  9. Hearing an almost-forgotten song, and realizing I still know the words
  10. Finding out that something on my grocery list is on special, AND I have a coupon, AND the store doubles coupons! (You can ask my husband about how happy this makes me – he’s witnessed it quite a few times.)

What are some of your simple pleasures?

  1. “Cool nights and cloudy mornings” … and I DON’T care if the sun comes out. I’m definitely a winter person, not a summer person.

  2. Bobbi – I don’t mind the sun later, because the clouds keep the rest of the day from getting too hot. I like warm weather, but not real heat.

April – I hear you! But unless I go out for it, that never happens :-).

Karen – Sleeping SHOULD have been on my list!

  3. I love the coffee one, and have to consdier it one og my top three, for sure. I DON’T like anyone else to make it because then it isn’t as good as mine. Unless it is starbucks, which is too far away AND too expensive for me to frequent much. And #7 is one as well.

  4. Great list, Florinda. I love that the hand-holding is #1. So sweet. I’d put cuddling on the sofa with the kids (hubby, too), my unbelievably soft ivory blanket, sleeping in, eating at Giorgio’s, dancing, hitting the sofa with the hubby to watch Mad Men…oh, lots of things, I’m happy to say. Have a great day and enjoy…

  5. Sheesh. If I’m going to reply to comments, I probably should re-read my original post at the same time. Re Karen‘s comment: Sleep IS on my list. Duh. Clearly, I need MORE of it!

Kori – I know what you mean. I have this awesome coffeemaker with a built-in grinder, and I like to combine different beans. But I wouldn’t mind letting someone else operate it once in awhile. (Not gonna happen – I’m the only coffee drinker in the house.)

Mike – Where IS your list this week, by the way :-)? I'm sure it would have M&M's on there somewhere. Chris (my son) would agree with you about the beer – but he'd agree with me about the coffee, too.

Anna – Having a “happy” list is a great thing :-). But as for the TV, with us it’s Burn Notice.

  6. Absolutely to #6 and 7! Also chocolate, playing with Jiro (he’s such a silly cat!), a big mug of hot tea on a cold winter day, or hot chocolate for that matter, a cozy wool sweater, snow (I’m so obviously a winter person!), successfully taking the photo I wanted, …

  7. Tanabata – #7 happened to me this past weekend, and I actually had #6 last night :-).

I like snow, as long as I don’t have to drive in it.

  8. My husband and I are hand holders too. 🙂 I, too, love it when #7 happens. That happened while we were in Hawaii, in fact, with Bridge of Sighs. I was so excited! Number 9 happened to me the other day too! I couldn’t believe I still knew the words to that song.

Great list, Florinda. I am going to think of happy things for the rest of the day. 🙂

  9. Literary Feline – Have you gone back to work yet? I know that being out of the office makes it easier for ME to think of happy things :-).

I spotted Bridge of Sighs in paperback this weekend too, but I figured that since I STILL haven’t read Empire Falls (yes, I know!), I shouldn’t buy it yet.
