Ten on Tuesday: New travels, plus random nosiness

This week’s Ten on Tuesday theme, “10 Places You’d Love to Travel To (That You Haven’t Gone to Yet),” presents a bit of a challenge for me. It’s not that I don’t want to travel more, but some of the places I’d most like to visit are places that I’d be returning to, so I can’t include cities like New York, San Francisco, and Boston on this list. When I thought about it, I ended up with a mixture of the specific (cities) and the general (entire countries).

Chicago – This is probably the US city at the top of my “I want to go there someday” list, but I haven’t made it yet. I’d like to go during baseball season so I can take in a game at Wrigley Field, I’d love to try some of that famous pizza, and maybe I’d get to say hi to Mike and Jenn.

Seattle – It’s on my coast, and despite its reputation, Working Girl says it really doesn’t rain all the time there.

Washington DC – Probably the place on this list I’m most likely to visit in the foreseeable future, given that it’s where my son is now living, and Mom really should go check it out!

Charleston, SC – It’s a part of the South I’ve read a lot about, but where I really haven’t spent much time, and I’d like to see it for myself (just not in the humid summertime!).

Colorado – I don’t know where in particular I’d like to go here; I’d just like to visit the mountains and take lots of pictures.

Hawaii – Again, I don’t have a specific spot in mind here. I’d love to be able to spend enough time to visit several of the islands, explore, enjoy the ocean, and drink a lot of pineapple juice.

London – I realize that it’s pretty lame, but one reason that this would be my first choice of a European city to visit is that I wouldn’t have to know another language. It’s far from the only reason, of course…

Vancouver – This one’s a bit of a cheat. I spent a few hours in Vancouver before and after my cruise to Alaska nine years ago, but they were in the airport, the cruise port, and the bus between the two, so I think it still counts as a place I officially haven’t traveled to.

Australia – Not the Outback, though.

Cooperstown, NY – I lived in upstate New York for four years and never made the pilgrimage to the Baseball Hall of Fame, so this is actually a trip that’s long overdue.

Do you have a few places on your “must-see” (or “really-want-to-try-to-see”) list? If you posted them for Ten on Tuesday, please leave a link to your post in the comments – and if not, you’re welcome to go ahead and share them right there!

  1. Sure, we’ll meet you for dinner! We have a few of the same. You must go to Hawaii. I swear you won’t want to leave!

  2. Chicago probably wouldn’t have made my list, but now that you mention taking in a baseball game at Wrigley field and their famous pizza, I’ve changed my mind. 🙂

I do hope you make it to Seattle someday. I really like it there and would love to visit again. And again.

    Colorado is another beautiful state.

I would really like th travel to Australia someday. And Washington D.C. and New York City. I’ve been to upstate New York several times now, but never NYC.

We share many of the same bad habits, I see. Can I go on a three month vacation too? Sounds wonderful!

  3. Jenn – Thanks for stopping by! I checked out your list; it looks like the Philippines has some lovely places to visit.

AmyYour list is quite eclectic! You’ll have to let me know what’s fun to do in your hometown.

Mike – I noticed that there was some overlap on our lists, too. I’m actually hoping we plan a Chicago trip in the next couple of years…we’ll see what happens.

Literary Feline – I hope they don’t tear down Wrigley Field before I make it there.

Three months somewhere with a couple of boxes of books – sounds like an ideal vacation, doesn’t it, Wendy? 😀

  4. Donna – Thanks for playing this week; the theme suits your “travelblog” perfectly! 🙂

It’s interesting how many people haven’t been to our nation’s capital. And sadly, if my son weren’t living there now, I’m not sure it would have made my list.

  5. The only 2 places on your list that I’ve already been to are Vancouver and London! There are so many places I’d like to go in Europe that it would probably dominate my own list if I were to make one.
BTW, congrats on your 500th post. I’m so behind this last week or so, I’m just starting to catch up.

  6. Tanabata – I usually figure I should start lists like this with what’s close to home. The USA is a big country!

I’m not sure why I keep mentioning those number-of-posts milestones, but thanks for noticing. 🙂
