One fun thing about participating in weekly memes is that you may find yourself writing about topics that might bever have otherwise crossed your mind. I don’t think I’d be thinking or talking about my favorite drinks if it weren’t this week’s Ten on Tuesday prompt.
I “don’t drink” much, at least in the sense that most people mean when they talk about “drinks,” so this will probably be a very boring list. As usual, in no particular order of preference:
- Water – I drink it all day long, like it or not, and most of the time I actually do like it.
- Coffee – as brewed in my kitchen. I have a great coffeemaker with a built-in coffee grinder, which lets me custom-blend regular and flavored decaf for my morning Nectar of the Gods. I add some flavored creamer and sweetener, and I’m good to go.
- Pineapple juice – my preferred breakfast beverage. This Florida-raised girl never much cared for orange juice (one more reason not to move back there…)
- Cafe Latte – yes, the Starbucks kind, I admit it. I’ll order a plain nonfat in the morning (if I haven’t had my own coffee at home first, that is), and a flavored one as a dessert substitute after a meal later in the day.
- Lemonade – my favorite thirst quencher, any time except breakfast time
- Iced tea – “Unsweet,” as we say down south
- Lemonade Iced Tea – Sometimes known as an “Arnold Palmer,” it’s #5 + #6, the best of both worlds!
- Merlot – red wine with dinner
- White Zindanfel, chilled (or the less common White Merlot, if available) – the cliché “chick drink,” I know…
- Hot chocolate – on a cold evening, it’s just the best.
So, let’s go for a few drinks! What are you having? Check out the menu at this week’s Ten on Tuesday post!

Nothin’ wrong with being cliche! I’ve been known to do it a time or two myself… 😉
Sunfire – I really don’t do it all that often – drink wine, that is. I’m probably a cliche more often, sadly…
I’m with you on the water & coffee … I have a Cuisinart that grinds the beans fresh too!!! I’ve got a lemon tree in my front yard, but hardly ever make lemonade. My neighbor, however, tells me her grandkids love to use my lemons for this. I’m with you on the White Zen & White Merlot … and Hot Chocolate on chilly evenings!
Hugs and blessings,
Well, chick drink or not, that White Zinfandel is delicious!!!
Hope you can drop by and give me a big’o’ “howdy”!!!
Storyteller – I should have checked your ToT post for all that wine info before I put mine up. 🙂
I could probably use a drink this evening, the way things are going…
Hootin’ Anni – I did drop by your place!
Thanks to you both for stopping in – drinks are on the house today!
My list is pretty tame too. I love lemonade on a hot summer day, and I like my tea “unsweet” as well.
Happy Tuesday!
Heather – You can’t go wrong with lemonade, if you ask me…
Thanks for coming by!
I don’t think my list would stretch to ten…
Water. Drink it all day. (I like it.)
Tea. Love it.
Chillers. (Officially, they’re called ‘Chillates’, but I don’t know anyone who calls them that.)
Coffee: Occasionally my husband will make us both a decaf in the evenings.
Alcopop: In the summer, I drink one Mike’s lemonade or Woody’s grapefruit most weekdays, sitting on the porch after work.
Beer: I go out for a pint (Irish cream ale) a couple of times a month.
That’s really about it.
We usually have a bottle of red and of white in the house, but they can sit on a shelf for a looong time before they get opened.
In the summer, I enjoy crushed-ice lime margaritas. But can you include something you have maybe 5 times a year in this list?
MaryP – Your Chiller sounds like it’s probably a Frappucino’s cousin.
And yes, I would say you can include something you have maybe 5 times a year in this list, since that’s about how often I drink wine, and I included two varieties of that!
I’ve never cared for beer, but somehow I gave birth to a beer snob. My son’s all about the dark ales and microbrews. I expect he’ll be brewing his own one day.
