What we’re all about

This “About Us” meme comes via Literary Feline (I’ve been picking up some fun stuff from her lately.) I am publicly inviting my husband to comment in writing – here on this blog – if he would have answered anything differently.

The basic facts:
Who is your significant other? My husband, “Tall” Paul
How long have you been together? 2.5 years
Dating/Engaged/Married? Married – just celebrated our first anniversary on October 21
How old is your Significant Other? Mid-40’s – I don’t know if he’d want me to say exactly
Which one?
Who eats more? Probably him generally, but sometimes me
Who says “I love you” first? It varies – sometimes me, sometimes him
Who sings better? I’m pretty sure I do
Who’s older? He is – he just had a birthday, and he’s 17 months and 3 days older than I am
Who’s smarter? We have the exact same IQ, so technically we’re equal! But as far as knowledge goes, I’m stronger in some areas and he is in others
Whose temper is worse? Probably his (sorry, honey! Please don’t me mad!)
Who does the laundry? Either, but he does it more often
Who does the dishes? Either
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? He does
Whose feet are bigger? Definitely his!
Whose hair is longer? Mine is
Who’s better with the computer? He is, definitely, even when he has to deal with my PC – he’s a Mac guy through and through
Who mows the lawn? The landscaping staff. That sounds very grand, but we live in an apartment complex and we don’t have yard work to deal with
Who pays the bills? Either – I probably do it a bit more often, but since we use Quicken and online banking, it’s not too stressful. We both bring in the money, so we share the responsibility for handling it
Who cooks dinner? Either – we trade off. But if we get take-out, he goes to pick it up.
Who drives when you are together? Usually he does – he’s not a very good passenger
Who pays when you go out to dinner? Since it’s all “our” money, it really doesn’t matter – usually he does, but sometimes I like to do it
Who’s the most stubborn? I think he is
Who is the first one to admit when they’re wrong? Usually I am. I tend to be a peacekeeper
Whose parents do you see more? Mine, since we live closer to my dad than to his mom
Who named your dog/cat? Neither of us, actually. I adopted the dog 9 years ago and got custody of her when my first husband and I got divorced, but she was already named when we got her
Who kisses who first? I don’t know – I don’t keep score on who starts it, just as long as it happens often!
Who asked who out? He did for the first date, but I did for the second
Who’s more sensitive? It depends…I think we’re pretty comparable
Who’s taller? I call him “Tall Paul,” don’t I? He’s 6’1″, I’m 4’8″.
Who has more friends? Probably me, but neither of us has a huge circle
Who has more siblings? We each have one – he has a brother, I have a sister
Who wears the pants in the relationship? He does. I wear skirts a lot of the time.

  1. Do you ever sing that Annette Funicello song to your husband, the one called Tall Paul? It comes to mind every time I read your blog and you mention your husband. It’s driving my husband crazy–partly because once I break into that one, I have to sing a few of her others as well. It’s my mother’s fault. She was a big Annette fan and I somehow still remember all the songs. Bits and pieces anyway.

I love wearing skirts. I don’t know many women who do anymore though.

  2. Literary Feline – I’d actually never heard of the song until Tall Paul and I started seeing each other, and one of my girlfriends played it for me. I bought it from iTunes a while ago, though, and it shows up on my iPod regularly. I thought about putting it on the playlist at our wedding reception, but figured it would drive everyone crazy. Tall Paul himself isn’t that big a fan of it. 🙂
