The “Ten on Tuesday” site was down on Tuesday the 9th, so there’s no official prompt for this week.
Sorry folks! The Ten on Tuesday database seems to be corrupt. I’m working on fixing it, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be back up (soon).
While we’re down, take the time to write a (top) ten list of your choice!
That assignment actually fits very well with this one:
My agency had its annual management staff retreat last Friday. One of our “team-building” activities (yeah, it’s for suckers, but there we were) was to share three things about ourselves that our coworkers might not know. One of the the three things had to be false.
- I weighed just over four pounds at birth.
- I never use my real name at Starbucks.
- I bring a book with me everywhere I go.
- I was first-chair violinist in my high-school orchestra.
- I spent four years in the Ivy League (at Cornell).
- My husband and I got engaged on Super Bowl Sunday.
- I have been in every state on the East Coast – I actually like road trips.
- I have never once smoked a cigarette.
- I was a member of the American Contract Bridge League.
- I’ve broken each of my arms once.
Which ones do you think might be false?:-)
(Three of the 10 items are not true. If you’ve already played this over at Work It, Mom, or you know the answers from real life, you definitely have an unfair advantage in this game!)
So three are false, huh?
Here’s my guesses as to which three:
–getting engaged on Super Bowl Sunday (doesn’t seem your style, for some reason)
–never once smoked a cigarette (come on, not once?)
–never use your real name at Starbucks (how you could resist saying a beautiful name like “Florinda” as often as possible!)
Working Girl –
Tall Paul and I are not football fans, and on the first Sunday in February, 2006, we went for a drive and ended up in Santa Barbara. We spent the afternoon there, and he wanted to get some pictures of the sunset at the pier. That’s where he proposed – but there aren’t any pictures of that.
Nope, never even sampled demon tobacco in junior high. I was an unbelievably straight arrow, even for a Catholic-school girl.
The thing about Starbucks is that I get tired of spelling my name for them! I use my middle name there, which is much more common. (I know a few other women with unusual first names who also have a “Starbucks alias.”)
So the three false items are still up for grabs – want to try again? 🙂
I never use any name at Starbucks – there just doesn’t seem to be any need for one.
I’ll guess that you don’t like road trips and you didn’t break your arms. (Starbucks was my first guess, but I see that one’s wrong.)
BubandPie – I only give a name at Starbucks when they ask. They’re inconsistent about it, and a lot of the time it depends how busy they are, I think. It’s quicker to call out that a coffee’s ready for “Liz” than to announce “a grande non-fat sugar-free vanilla latte.”
And I’m giving you credit for getting two of the three “false” items CORRECT, ma’am! The two broken arms belong to my stepdaughter – both this year, actually. And I really DO like road trips…I’ve been in every East Coast state EXCEPT Maine, so that’s what makes it false.
Anyone want to take a stab at the last remaining fib? 😉
I think it’s more of a bridal shower game than a team building exercise. 🙂
Laurie – I think it was actually supposed to be an icebreaker, but we got off-track from the agenda (can you imagine?) and didn’t do it until we’d been there for over two hours, which is a little late.
