**** Banned Books Week is September 27-October 4th, and Caribousmom talks about a lot better than I could.
**** Consider this a public service announcement: If you are tired of forwarded e-mails from your friends and relatives who keep sending you those “true” stories and political screeds they haven’t checked out on Snopes.com, no matter how many times you’ve asked them not to, there’s a website that will do the asking for you (via Lifehacker). It’s free, it’s anonymous, and it might be worth a try.

SoCal Mom remembers Sept. 11, 2001, and her birth as a political blogger; and Mike certainly won’t forget
Does the media slight the caregiving skills and responsibilities of fathers? Is it just reflecting society’s perceptions if it does? Meanwhile, why is it that “working mothers” are still news, after all this time?

I expected this to be about MaryP’s new dog – but no, it’s something else even funnier. This one’s pretty funny too, as long as they’re not your kids.

The Anteater of Death (A Gunn Zoo Mystery), by Betty Webb (DearReader.com E-mail Book Club – pre-pub, due in bookstores 12/08)
Janeology, by Karen Harrington
Home Girl: Building a Dream House on a Lawless Block, by Judith Matloff
Novel About My Wife, by Emily Perkins
This is the opposite of a book wish, I guess – I was just happy to find someone else who can’t stand Wuthering Heights!
Wow, two links. Thanks!
I wonder about blogging about the kids too. There is no way to keep them out of my blog. I hope I’m doing okay by not using their names. We’ll see how it goes.
I really like the stop forwarding e-mail thing. I could use that on several family members. 🙂
Mike – Yeah, I have a couple of relatives I could use it on too. I think a lot of us do, which is why I offered it as a PSA.
And you’re welcome for the link – seriously, I think that was one of your best posts ever.
My mom is the worst at sending out chain forwards without checking on snopes first. She claims she can’t figure it out.
April – Yeah, my uncle is the same way. He’s been sending us a lot of political stuff that is just plain wrong, let alone that we disagree with it.
I can see myself overusing the Stop Forwarding Us site. 🙂
Although I didn’t dislike Wuthering Heights, I thought it was only okay. 🙂
Literary Feline – I think it could be VERY useful. I’m surprised my husband hasn’t given them several e-mail addresses already.
I have no patience with Cathy and Heathcliff. I do like the Kate Bush song based on the book, though; I have Pat Benatar’s version. It ends a lot sooner than the book does.
I hated, HATED Wuthering Heights! Give me Jane Eyre any old day. 🙂
HR Wench – Welcome to The 3 R’s!
I’m not a big fan of Jane Eyre either, but I don’t have the deep-down disdain for it that I do for WH.
Thanks for the link
and I thought Wuthering Heights was pathetic. That’s not love!
Judy</b – You're welcome! I found your blog via a comment you left on PunditMom's, and I liked the it :-).
