Sunday Bulletin

Due to the Blogswarm post taking precedence this Mother’s Day, I’m not doing a big Scraptacular this week. I do have some announcements and Reader links to share, though.

Announcements:

***If you usually read my posts via e-mail or feeder, thank you for subscribing! But then, chances are you don’t visit the blog itself all that much unless you comment, so you may not have seen the new addition to the sidebar that shows my Twitter updates. I decided to give it a shot after all (thanks, Karen and Donna!). It’s not nearly as disruptive as I was afraid it might be; so far, so good, I think. You can follow me here, if you’re so inclined, and I’ll do the same with you! And if you follow anyone really interesting or fun, let me know so I can add them to the list of interesting and fun people I’m following already.

***You may have tried that whole post-every-day-for-a-month NaBloPoMo thing, but what about trying a month of spreading the joy of comments? The Town Crier at Stirrup Queens and Sperm Palace Jesters is launching “National Comment Leaving Month,” NaComLeavMo, on May 25 – you can get all the details and sign up here, but in a nutshell, you’ll agree that “you are going to leave 5 comments a day and return one comment a day between May 25 and June 25. In other words, you will do your normal blog reading, but you will make sure that you leave at least 5 comments a day and regardless of how many comments you usually receive, you will return at least 1 comment by going to a commentor’s blog and leaving a comment there.” All bloggers are invited to participate.

My family’s big Road Trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon falls during that month, and I may not have Internet access at times during it (the horror! the horror!), so I’m not sure I can officially join in, but I plan to participate informally as much as possible.

***Submit your nominations for The Park Bench‘s “Nerd Man of the Month” for May in the comments here – voting starts tomorrow! (Side note to my husband: Sorry, honey! You’re totally qualified, but just not well-known enough. You’re my Nerd Man for every month, though!)

***The new theme for Weekly Geeks is remembering your favorite books from childhood – but don’t post about all of them right now, because you should save some for my children’s/YA Bookworms Carnival in August! All of the details are here at Dewey’s blog.

New in Google Reader this week

or “Additions to my ever-growing list of things to read when I should be doing something else.” Thanks to Mike for describing it so perfectly.

  1. We were in Yellowstone over New Year’s. There’s cell phone coverage but I don’t think any Internet. At least, we were told there wasn’t and we didn’t try. It was actually sort of nice to be without.

  2. Susan – Yellowstone is the place where I expect to be off the grid for the longest time. My husband won’t mind. 🙂

  3. The comment thing sounds interesting, not sure if I can commit. I’ll check it out. I’m trying out twitter. Of should show me following you. I’m Mjfrig; I ‘borrowed’ a couple you follow. 🙂
