Week-End Review: Fill-ins, Facebook, and Finds on Friday

Week-End Review: Fill-ins, Facebook, and Finds on Friday

Friday Fill-Ins 2011-8 1. Ooooh, I have just over a week left wearing the Ultrasling!. 2. The Academy Awards-related street-closure traffic jam around my office – I can’t stand it! 3. How the heck did I end up with so many books in TBR Purgatory? 4. The orthopedist’s office is NOT one of my favorite places to visit. 5. I’m not a helpless one-armed invalid, I’m not! 6. If it’s covered in chocolate it has […]

Week-End Review: Friday Fives, plus a quizzical bonus

Week-End Review: Friday Fives, plus a quizzical bonus

Five things to tell you: I went back to the office for three days this week (worked at home the other two, since I didn’t have transportation). I’ve found I’m productive in different ways in each space. On my second day back, I invited you to my workplace and asked for your help – a simple online vote – to get a new program off the ground. If you haven’t done that, there’s still time… […]

Week-End Review: 5 for Friday, and a few more

Week-End Review: 5 for Friday, and a few more

Five things about my week: After two weeks of resting and recuperating, I went back to work this week, but I didn’t actually go to work – telecommuting FTW! Monday was very tiring and my shoulder was feeling it on Tuesday. Wednesday was better, but by yesterday my energy was pretty well used up. The only real drawback I find to telecommuting is that data travels very slowly between my computer and the remote server. […]

Week-End Review: 5 things from me, and 5 (links) for Friday

Week-End Review: 5 things from me, and 5 (links) for Friday

Five things from me: Looks like things are going well 2 weeks post-shoulder surgery! The incisions are healing nicely and the X-rays look good. I’ve been given two new exercises to do 2-3 times per day. Otherwise, I’m to stay in the sling and basically try to forget I even have a right arm for another 4-5 weeks, and I see the ortho again on February 21, exactly one month after the surgery. Aside from […]

Friday Fill-ins…and fillin’ y’all in!

Friday Fill-ins…and fillin’ y’all in!

I haven’t done one of these in a while, but they don’t require much typing. I also didn’t have a post already scheduled for today, and that hasn’t happened for a while either…and hence, convergence! But since I haven’t really been here for a few days, how about another sort of “fill-in” first? My shoulder surgery was a week ago today, and by my own estimation, I’m not doing badly. I’ll still be recuperating at […]

Week-End Review: Five (Links) for Friday, and introducing the Friday Foto!

It’s about time we got a button in here, isn’t it? I got myself a Tumblr blog after all, and if you’re on Tumblr, I’d be more than happy for you to follow it (and I’ll follow you back)! But here are a few reasons you might choose not to: I’m treating it as a “spinoff” from this blog, so a lot of what I post there will probably end up back over here anyway. […]

Week-End Review: Recommended Reading

Week-End Review: Recommended Reading

I won’t be taking up too much of your time this Friday…but since I’m doing NaBloPoMo, you won’t get a break from me tomorrow, so it all evens out! I’m sure you’ve heard there was an election this week – and no matter how you feel about the way it all turned out, I hope you voted! Julie takes a fairly moderate look at how change begets change, while April’s glad we’re done with campaign […]

Week-End Review: Links & Whatnot

Who’s ready for Election Day?  I have an election-related post scheduled for Monday, but couldn’t wait till then to get on topic. For starters, which side of the red/blue divide do you fall on? You Are 35% Conservative, 65% Liberal Social Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal Personal Responsibility: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal Fiscal Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal Ethics: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal Defense and Crime: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal How Liberal Or Conservative Are […]

Week-End Review: Links & Whatnot, Ides of October edition

Whatnot, just ’cause: I’m still over here waving my purple banner for Alzheimer’s – my Memory Walk is next Saturday, October 23 – but can’t forget that October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Given the abundance of pink ribbons on all sorts of products in the stores right now, I’m sure you can’t forget it either. But think before you pink – some of the companies that practice “cause marketing” this month are actually […]

Week-End Review: Links & whatnot

Week-End Review: Links & whatnot

First the whatnot, then the links… A good conference requires plenty of planning, so it’s smart to start early. And even if you’re not sure you’ll be going to a particular conference, if they’re asking for input on the programming, you might as well give ’em your ideas! I really want to attend the 2nd Book Blogger Convention in New York next May, and their request for topic suggestions (anonymous) is still open. This year’s […]

Week-End Review 6/11: “I need a vacation!” Edition

Week-End Review 6/11: “I need a vacation!” Edition

It’s only the 11th, but this is the last Week-End Review that I’ll post during June! I’m bringing my MacBook on vacation with me, but am not planning on spending much time on blog-related business. The “mark all as read” button in Google Reader will most likely get quite a workout during the next two weeks, which means I probably won’t be gathering too many links! If all goes according to plan, the Review should […]

Week-end Review: Annoucements + links!

Week-end Review: Annoucements + links!

Event Annoucement: I can’t participate this time, unfortunately, since I’ll need to be packing for vacation that weekend, but if you’ve got the time, you’ll find it well worth it to join in Bloggiesta #3, scheduled for June 11-13! If Bloggiesta is new to you, here’s what it’s all about: In short, it’s a blogging marathon.  A opportunity to cross those nagging items off of your to-do list and improve your blog while in the […]
