I’m not much for New Year’s Resolutions, because I don’t think there’s anything particularly sacred about January 1 as a benchmark for starting good habits, ending bad ones, or making general life changes. Therefore, the first item on my list is:
- Revisit, re-evaluate, and recommit to the following twelve items on this list as often as necessary, even if it’s several times a day.
And with that out of the way, here’s what I want to try to make better in the year ahead, more or less:
- Less sugar
- Less salt
- More vegetables
- More drinking water
- Less sitting
- More movement
- More focus
- Less procrastination
- More reading
- Less blogging
- More thoughtful writing
- More connecting
There may be some more specific reading- and blogging-related adjustments to come, but if I blog those, it’ll be in a Sunday Salon post (which I’d like to participate in more, again). However, I will not call any of these changes “New Year’s Resolutions.” Are you making any resolutions not to make New Year’s Resolutions too?
BONUS PSA: My September 2012 post “Always Have a Backup Plan: A ‘Learning Experience'” is being featured on BlogHer.com‘s homepage and in the Blogging & Social Media topic section today. It’s a cautionary tale of the time I blew up my blog template. Learn from my mistakes, and start your New Year off by backing up your blog and your template files!
